INTERNATIONAL MARITIME DANGEROUS GOODS CODE (IMDG)

Dangerous goods carried internationally by sea are subject to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code. This has requirements for similar markings etc, and container regulations more specifically made around maritime requirements. You may encounter goods being moved from port to port etc. by road quite legally if marked under IMDG regulations. Dangerous goods carried by sea are almost invariably carried in tank containers for obvious loading and storing reasons.
